The time required by an average person to have a sip of coffee is more than enough for Nicola to illustrate her first draft.

How often do you get to hear an illustrator's story who captures the Bristolians' uniqueness in only a few seconds ?
''Every person I draw feels like a piece to the puzzle that makes Bristol.. Bristol.''
You'll often find Nicola sitting behind a window or display trying to capture with her mind, drawing skills and heart an individual's personality and outfit.
Some of her favourite 'observation' places include Cafe Kino, Boston Tea Party and Roll for the Soul.
Her creativity cannot be hidden, as she always manages to portray a bit of herself through her styling options.
''Through everyone's outfit you get a clue into their story.''
Nicola commented.
But how did it all start? Nicola Colton's 'People of Bristol' project started as a fun activity that would help her practice her drawing. What it ended up being though, was a medium that helped her feel connected to the city ,its people and its vibe.
When asked about her hobbies, Nicola mentioned Yoga. ''I need to do things to relax my mind. I have previously dealt with serious anxiety which wouldn't allow me to draw. Ironically what helps me overcome it, is drawing.''
Every step of the process is fascinating but the final results are a definitely 'feast-for-the-eyes'.
'' Without Art and Music, life would be a very boring place''
she added before heading off.
